 Died after less than 20 months - red standby button and whirring September 10, 2010

Received this Memorex under the counter TV/DVD/CD/radio two Christmas's ago for my kitchen usage from my husband. Wanted it for radio and to play DVDs and CDs which both worked ok, but it had incredibly slow button responses - 1-2 sec per press on unit or remote! We live between two high mountains so couldn't get over the air TV reception anyway, or I'd be complaining about this along with other reviews. Biggest complaint is it died today, 20 months after purchase. I turned it off while answering phone call today. Then tried to turn it back on after phone call, and - nothing! Totally dead other than little "red" standby light. If press remote or unit "power" button, blue light comes on and unit whirs forever, but, does not respond to any subsequent button presses. What a waste of money! Should have lasted more than 20 months. Don't buy this awful product! Where to find a replacement that isn't as bad! (Oh, yeah, it still has one of my DVDs in it, so, now we have to figure out how to break it open to retrieve the disk - assuming it hasn't "eaten" it, too!) GRRRR!

I purchased this as a present for my wife for Christmas. It's May 3rd and it has already died.
When it worked, it worked great for us which is the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars. Also, I found it on sale for about $120, so it was great while it lasted. We would watch the news on it every day and my wife loved to watch it while cooking. Even though it doesn't process the cable signal, it didn't bother us because we never intended to hook it up to the cable.
Pros:
The constuction of the TV seems solid.
TV picture through over the air antenna was pretty good.
The sound wasn't great, but it was sufficient.
DVD player and radio worked well.
Easy installation.
Cons:
Died after 5 months.
Changing the channels was very slow.
Overall, I felt this TV delivered what we bought it for until it died. You might get luckier than us on it's life span. I will get another under cabinet TV, but it will not be this one.

DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!! You have to use a cable box to make it work so it defeats the purpose.

We don't have cable, so this HDTV worked just fine in our kitchen... for about 6 months. Don't buy it. Target won't take it back after 90 days and I couldn't even find customer service on the Memorex website.

Bought it brand new from Target. Installation went well, it worked for only 10 months. A little red LED turns on in the upper left hand corner and that's it. Moved to another outlet; same thing. Contacted Memorex and they said that it is out of warranty sorry too bad! I guess Memorex does not manufacture something that will work longer than a year. Why don't they just print on the box "only lasts for maybe a year" and then charge a cheaper price!!
