2 out of 5 stars Ok while it lasted.   May 11, 2010

Purchased this for my daughter in January 2009 for use exclusively to watch DVDs. In other words, not heavy useage. Picture is what you'd expect from a CRT tv. Not particulary good or bad as such tvs go. DVD player was of very light construction and became finicky in what discs it would play afer about a month. Generally did play everything after a few tries. After about 8 months, the picture began to fail intermittently. Losing color at times and other times winking out completely. Until February of this year, this could be cured by simply cycling the power. However after just 13 months in service, the picture has now winked out for good. $200 for 13 months of a TV is really not a good bargain. Also, the remote was a minor nuisance. Very cumbersome and unintuitive button placement. Would not buy again.

RMA'd this thing really hard.
Would not play any DVD straight out of the box. Why buy this old technology anyway? My bad.

Let's move on and pretend it never happened....Nice of Amazon to charge me shipping to return a defective product though....thanks guys!

3 out of 5 stars Good TV/good price   July 3, 2009

The sound is excellent. The picture does have the purple splotch that others have spoken of but it's not so bad that it distracts from what you're watching. You begin to ignore it. Initially had problems with the DVD but now it works fine. I'd recommend it.

2 out of 5 stars Erratic DVD performance; bad clicker   June 22, 2009

It did not set up when the tv first arrived and it took several calls to customer service to get it to turn on. Something in the programming, they said. After turning it off and on numerous times, it finally recognized the off/on switch. Great start. The DVD programming is also erratic; for example, it will not play in reverse for more than 5 sec,. due apparently to the fact that it can only reverse to a section mark of the DVD. All of the eccentric programming is aggravated by the clicker, which has a host of tiny buttons in no particular order. You will have fun memorizes the functions of each button as they are labeled in tiny enigmatic pidgin English. As noted by others, the sound quality is poor.
